How to build confidence on roller skate (Part 3)

Updated: Jul 17, 2025

Finally! The long awaited installment for this mini-series.

Having tested and re-tested these techniques and drills with people over a number of years, we are confident when we say these are techniques that work.

If you missed them - you can find parts 1 and 2 linked below.

I've also made a video about why roller skating is so very scary for adults!

If you don't feel like watching a video right now, it's all about stopping and controlling your speed.

We believe that if you have a range of different methods to feel in control in different situations, you will approach these situations with more confidence. Even if you end up falling, you will learn more about your balance and control and be able to apply that in the future.

In fact, the faster you can learn to fail at something, the faster you will learn about how you need to correct it!

If you'd like more tutorials about stopping and controlling your speed, you can find these in the Tutorials section available to our members. (Online membership is a one-off £20 - no recurring subscription, and you'll get access to a whole heap of videos!)

Cheers to you for finding ways to stop safely.
