Age 5+ Drop-In Skate

Skaters aged 5+ and all ability levels are warmly welcomed to our drop in session.

The Skate Sanctuary Studio was created to support folks to develop confidence and support connection. We hope that people leave knowing one more person than when they came (though sometimes, there may not be anyone else skating!)

What happens during the session?

While this isn't a coached session, our studio team will support you with hire skates, ensuring you have protective pads and that they are on correctly. If the session isn't too busy, they will also help you get started if you are new to skating .

If you'd like to learn other skills, we are happy to offer a couple of tips to support you to continue your skate journey, please note, however that our team needs to look after all the skaters in the session so. If you need more intensive tuition, consider booking a class or a private session at The Skate Sanctuary.

Skaters are welcome to use the space to practise their skate skills. We attract lots of folks at the start of their roller skate journey. We may play games or use equipment during the session - joining in is always optional.

To secure your place, we recommend booking in advance and will turn people away if the session is full.

We have a small amount of space for accompanying non-skating partners and pushchairs.

We now offer a monthly Skater Tots session for children aged 4 and under and recommend toddlers and young children attend this slower paced session designed for them. If you are bringing a non-skating babe in arms, that is fine!

Tickets: Each ticket provides entry for one skater.

Non-skating adults accompanying a child do not require a ticket.

Skate hire is payable at the studio.

Hire skates are available on a first come first served basis. We have a number of skates from Junior size 8 - UK size 12. Toddler skates and UK size 12-15 are available with advance notice.

Will skate hire be available?

Yes, We recommend you ask for your regular shoe size. If you try skates on and they're not right for you, we are happy to swap them. Our skate hire is available in full sizes only, from Junior 8 - Adult UK 15. There are also a few toddler skates available.

All hire skates are hired on a first come first served basis.

We will also have protective pads available for you to borrow on a first come first served basis.

Will refreshments be available?

Yes. A selection of drinks and snacks will be available.

If it is wet weather, we appreciate your help in keeping the studio floor dry by removing outdoor shoes and leaving umbrellas at the door.

How do I find the venue?

The Skate Sanctuary at Mabgate Mills is located at LS9 7DZ, just off Macaulay Street

There is no free parking at the venue on weekdays before 5.30pm. Please use the affordable on-street parking on Macaulay Street, as we don't want anyone to be fined! Parking in the evening and weekends is free and unrestricted for visitors.
