About The Event
**NEW FOR SUMMER 2025**
ROLL IN & ROLL OUT
ROLL IN - All levels welcome to join us at the Skate Sanctuary. Absolute beginners are welcome. This is not a big space, so speed laps are not allowed!
We encourage skaters using the space to connect with other participants. This is not a coached session.
We strongly suggest you pre-book to avoid disappointment as the sanctuary is a smaller space and tickets are limited.
Skate hire is available from the front desk for £2 per session - you can pay by cash or card
Come and skate, have a chat, meet other skaters in the community and unwind!
Drinking water is available and we have a selection of hot and cold refreshments for sale. Please support us by purchasing our snacks and drinks. Outside food is not permitted in The Skate Sanctuary.
Everyone attending our Roll In session will require a ticket. We are happy to accomodate dancers in either shoes or skates :)
Video Etiquette
We are happy for skaters to take progress video for their personal reflection, however we ask you keep filming to a minimum. If you wish to film for extended periods of time, please consider booking our studio privately.
I have never roller skated before - is this session for me?
We welcome folks of all skill levels, including folks with very little or no experience. We are more than happy to give you tips to get started, but are not able to provide any kind of tuition beyond this. Please come to one of our coach led classes if you'd like a better breakdown of movements.
Please note; as the Skate Sanctuary is a smaller space, so you will be unable to do "laps" of the room and there will be no speed skate during this session.
ROLL OUT - For Summer 2025, we are introducing a roll out element to our studio skates, to allow more confident and experienced skaters (Level 3+) to join us as we skate around Leeds city centre. We will follow the same circular route each week so you can gain familiarity with the route.
The following Outdoor Etiquette applies to any skaters wishing to join our roll out.
You must be able to brake outdoors and control your speed on hills. If you cannot do this, please remove your skates.
Any behaviour deemed as dangerous will result in us asking you to remove your skates immediately and you may be asked not to join future roll outs. This includes, but is not limited to: rolling into traffic, holding onto vehicles or colliding with street furniture, members of the public or other skaters.
We will share the timings for the route before setting off. If you are not able to reach the checkpoint before the time, you will be left behind and will no longer be part of the Roll Out.
We expect all skaters to carry their own shoes and have carried out necessary safety checks on their skates and equipment prior to rolling out.
There will be no skate hire or wheel library available for roll outs, you must use all your own equipment.
You may park at The Skate Sanctuary as we will return to Mabgate Mills. Should you wish to leave the route early, please let a marshall know.
If you are not at the required level, please consider joining one of our OUTDOOR CONFIDENCE workshops to understand how outdoor roller skate skills differ from indoor skating.
Other wheels: We welcome inline skaters, skateboards and scooters to join us on our roll outs. If you feel more confident using this type of wheel, please do!
Ticket Terms and Conditions:
All skaters must have a completed waiver, which is valid for one year from the date it is filled in.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian or responsible adult
All identities and genders are welcome.
We welcome inline skaters. Skateboards, scooters and heelys are not allowed.
You authorise The Skate Sanctuary to take photographs and video of the session to share on their website and social media. Please speak to the studio team if you do not wish your image to be included.
Published event times reflect venue availability time - you may be asked to remove your skates up to 10 minutes before the published end time in order for us to clear the venue on time.
We are happy to refund/reschedule tickets if you tell us by email more than 24 hours in advance of the session. Please email skate@rollergirlgang.co.uk We are not able to accept cancellations via social media DMs.
